1 November 2026 / Deepavali Istana Open House / 10am–8pm

Istana Open House for Deepavali 2026: 1 November entry, family plan and timings

The Istana published the 1 November programme on 28 October. For families, elders and visiting friends, settle admission status, arrival window, cashless payment and the return journey first. Old open-house posts and social clips are not evidence of same-day entry, queues or weather.

Six facts to settle before leaving

Item What it means

Separate fees Self-guided Villa: Citizen/PR adult S$2 and child S$2; other adult S$10 and child S$5. The pre-registered Heritage Tour costs extra; the Main Building remains closed for restoration.

Capacity/weather Entry may be restricted for capacity or inclement weather. Recheck the Istana notice, MSS and transport status before travel.

Choose by admission, group and time

This selector stores no personal data; it turns the official schedule into a lower-regret arrival order.

Morning

Morning: Villa and easy grounds

For first-time adult visitors who want room for walking and security.

  • Enter at Main Gate around 10–10.30am.
  • Confirm Villa capacity and its separate fee first.
  • Leave before the afternoon or eat near Dhoby Ghaut.

Afternoon

Afternoon: family activities and stamp rally

For Citizen/PR families; free grounds do not make food, Villa or add-ons free.

  • Aim to reach the gate before 2pm.
  • Stamp Rally registration closes at 4.30pm.
  • Shorten outdoor time if children tire, storms develop or entry is restricted.

Afternoon

Standard-admission family budget

Separate grounds admission from optional extras before choosing the Villa.

  • Two adults plus one child aged 4–12: S$50 grounds admission.
  • Transport, food and Villa are outside that subtotal.
  • Fees are non-refundable; recheck capacity and weather before leaving.

Evening

Evening: guard change and concert

For visitors comfortable with outdoor conditions, a later finish and crowds.

  • Aim for the Main Gate by 5–5.30pm, not the cutoff.
  • Changing of Guards runs 6.30–7pm; evening performances end at 8pm.
  • Use Dhoby Ghaut MRT for the return and recheck on the day.

Before-you-go checklist

  • Bring valid identification for every visitor; confirm child ages and free-grounds eligibility.
  • Pack working card/QR payment, water, hats, light rain cover and essential child items.
  • The Heritage Tour needs pre-registration; save its confirmation and do not treat grounds entry as a tour place.
  • Enter on foot via Orchard Road Main Gate; do not assume parking, ride-hail drop-off or accessibility arrangements.
  • Leave knives, scissors, lighters, aerosols, tripods and canned food/drinks elsewhere: there is no storage.

Do not treat these as guarantees

  • 6.30pm is an entry cutoff, not a guaranteed Dhoby Ghaut arrival or security-clearance time.
  • Activities, capacity, weather and on-site safety directions can change; onsite instructions prevail.
  • The Main Building is closed; a Villa visit is not a Main Building opening.
  • Walk for Work is for pre-registered corporate participants, not a public walk-in activity.

FAQ

Grounds entry is free for Citizens, PRs and migrant domestic workers accompanying families. Standard admission is S$20 per adult and S$10 per child aged 4–12; Villa and Heritage Tour fees are separate.

What time should I arrive?

Last entry is 6.30pm. Arrive earlier for the 6.30pm guard change or evening performances so walking, security and possible capacity limits do not decide the visit.
