Deepavali Open House 2026: Indian Heritage Centre timings, family activities and Little India route

For a Deepavali visit without confusing the street light-up, museum and paid workshops: make the Indian Heritage Centre on Campbell Lane your indoor anchor, choose a pace for your group, then check the air and journey home. Do not reuse this schedule after the event ends.

Dates, budget and venue boundaries

Item What it means
Dates and place 17 October–8 November 2026 at Indian Heritage Centre, 5 Campbell Lane, Singapore 209924. The Serangoon Road light-up is a separate outdoor walk.
Hours The event lists 10am–6pm, extended to 8pm on Saturdays with 7:30pm last admission. The centre normally closes Mondays; confirm public-holiday or special arrangements with the venue.
Budget Museum entry is free during the open house; selected workshops are separately paid and require registration. The 18 October cooking demonstration is listed at S$10 per person: check availability first. Allow separately for transport, food and shopping.
Weekend highlights The bazaar and two craft activities are listed 10am–7pm Saturday and 10am–5pm Sunday. Street performances are listed only on weekends from 17 October to 1 November, 11am–6pm; do not extend them to the final weekend.
Saturday evening A 7pm English gallery tour meets in the lobby without registration. Special 6–7pm dance is listed only on 17, 24 and 31 October. Confirm capacity, programme and onsite arrangements.

Choose a visit: open one plan

No sign-in or personal details; this is a preparation checklist, not live capacity or air-quality information.

Weekday with children: museum first

The organiser lists children's crafts on weekdays only, 10am–5pm; the centre normally closes Monday. Check the day's programme and opening first, then plan lunch, a rest and a short return. Weekend children's booklets do not mean weekday crafts run at weekends.

Weekend daytime: bazaar and crafts

Check each activity's hours first. Budget free admission separately from shopping, food and paid registration. If air quality or a companion's condition makes an outdoor walk unsuitable, end at the museum rather than adding the precinct.

Saturday evening: prioritise the tour

Decide whether the 7pm English tour suits your group and note 7:30pm last admission. Special dance is listed only on 17, 24 and 31 October; do not assume it runs on 7 November. Plan the return and ask staff about current arrangements.

Arrival and return checklist

  1. The centre suggests Little India MRT Exit E for 5 Campbell Lane. Check exit facilities for your group's mobility needs and do not assume the whole walk is sheltered.
  2. Check the official programme and registration first; ask the centre about specific facilities or walking needs for children and companions with mobility needs.
  3. Set a total budget: transport + food/shopping + optional paid activities. Free museum entry does not make every experience free.
  4. Before returning, recheck air, weather and public transport. Skip the extra street walk if haze, thunder or tired companions make it unsuitable.

Before you leave

  • NEA's regional report updated at 6:25pm on 17 October recorded Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy levels at air-quality stations in Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia. This is a past regional observation, not an 18 October live reading or forecast. Check current 1-hour PM2.5, 24-hour PSI and official health advice before departure.
  • An indoor museum does not mean the journey, queue or surrounding bazaar is indoors. Do not infer today's crowd, activity availability or accessibility from past visits.
  • Respect people and places of worship in use; ask permission before photographing individuals or shops.

Is everything free?

The organiser lists free museum entry and several free activities, but some programmes are paid and require registration. Food, shopping and transport are separate.
