Deepavali long-weekend land-checkpoint guide 2026: Woodlands and Tuas pre-trip checks

ICA has warned that Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints are expected to be busy over the Deepavali long weekend. This guide separates the checkpoint, documents, vehicle and time-buffer decisions for families, regular cross-border travellers and first-time visitors. It does not predict queues, guarantee clearance or entry eligibility, or promise any connection.

What the advisory actually says

Item What it means
Dates and places ICA expects heavy traffic at Woodlands and Tuas land checkpoints from Friday, 6 November to Monday, 9 November. Recheck the actual checkpoint, direction and time before setting off.
Why a buffer matters ICA uses recent school-holiday peak waits as risk context, not as a forecast for this weekend. Enhanced security checks can also lengthen busy-period clearance.
Departure approach ICA advises planning ahead, considering non-peak travel such as early mornings and late evenings, and checking live checkpoint traffic before departure. This does not promise that a time, checkpoint or direction will be faster.
QR and arrival details ICA says MyICA QR codes can support smoother clearance. Eligible short-term visitors entering by land should submit the SG Arrival Card with health declaration within three days before arrival; check the current official requirements for your case.

Choose one pre-trip check by travel mode

No location access, stored data, live queue times or eligibility decision. This only turns ICA’s 6–9 November busy-period advisory into one action before you leave.

Check live checkpoint traffic first, then have passports ready. A family of up to four including children under six, or travellers using wheelchairs, can ask about QR-code use at Special Assistance Lanes; do not infer faster clearance, a seat or a fixed wait.

Four-part lower-regret checklist

  1. Before leaving: view live traffic through official routes such as ICA/OneMotoring, then decide whether to keep the trip. Do not depart on an old screenshot or social clip.
  2. Documents: check each passport has at least six months' validity. PRs with renewed passports and Long-Term Pass holders with changed passport particulars should follow ICA's update instructions first.
  3. Mode: bus and walk-on travellers need their own documents; drivers separately check vehicle, insurance, VEP/Autopass and other applicable requirements. Statuses differ by traveller.
  4. At the checkpoint: follow lanes, signs, traffic marshals and officers. Do not queue-cut. Plan pick-ups, onward travel and activities only after clearance—not around an assumed border-crossing time.

Extra checks for drivers and families

  • Foreign-vehicle drivers should confirm a valid VEP. ICA says drivers without a valid Autopass card, LTA VEP approval email or valid insurance will be turned back; from 2 November, foreign-registered vehicles with relevant unpaid Singapore traffic, parking or emissions fines may be unable to apply for/renew a VEP and may be denied entry. Use the latest ICA/LTA instructions for your case.
  • Travellers in wheelchairs and family groups of up to four including children below six can refer to ICA's QR-code information for Special Assistance Lanes. It does not mean every check is skipped, a fixed faster clearance or a reserved seat.
  • Food, controlled and prohibited-item rules are separate from traffic conditions. Recheck the official lists before travel instead of relying on what someone else previously carried.

FAQ

Did ICA publish a fixed wait time for this long weekend?

No. ICA expects Woodlands and Tuas to be busy from 6–9 November and uses recent school-holiday peaks as risk context. Check live traffic for the actual checkpoint, direction and time before leaving.

Will an early morning or late evening definitely be faster?

No. ICA suggests considering non-peak travel such as early mornings and late evenings, without promising a faster hour, checkpoint or direction. Recheck live conditions and your documents/vehicle first.

Do MyICA QR or the SG Arrival Card guarantee entry?

No. They are parts of the official process and do not replace passport, vehicle or entry-eligibility requirements. Follow ICA's latest directions.
