Singapore week ahead, 21–27 September: Jurong Lake lights, GovCash and BPLRT

Treat Lights by the Lake as one cancellable evening base this week, rather than stacking several cross-island stops. Air quality was still Moderate on Monday morning and thunderstorms remain in the outlook, so make the go/no-go decision from live air, lightning and return-journey checks.

Four dates to plan around

21–25 Sep · weekday evenings Lantern riddles at Chinese Garden run 7pm–9pm, while busking runs 7pm–10pm through 27 Sep. Pick one short activity instead of trying to complete the whole trail.
25–26 Sep · sky and stage Stargazing at Japanese Garden is listed for 6.30pm–10pm, and Moonstruck for 7.15pm and 8.30pm. Recheck cancellation notices; use an indoor plan if haze, storms or cloud cover make the outdoor stop unsuitable.
26–27 Sep · family weekend Afternoon calligraphy and clay-lantern keychain activities lead into the food market, games and inflatables. Sunday also has storytelling at 6.45pm and 7.30pm, and LED lion dance at 7.45pm and 8.45pm. Free admission does not make every activity free or walk-in.
27 Sep · BPLRT closure Bukit Panjang LRT is closed. Check buses 922, 972, 976 or Shuttle Bus B from Choa Chu Kang towards Bukit Panjang. LTA lists about 5–10 minutes between buses and the standard LRT fare.

Four checks before leaving

GovCash by 24 Sep: check personal eligibility

The Enhanced B2026 Cost-of-Living Special Payment is limited to people who meet the official conditions, including Singapore citizenship, age 21 or above in 2026, 2024 assessable income up to S$100,000 and no more than one property. Payment is automatic if eligible; GovCash is due by 24 Sep. A friend's receipt does not establish your eligibility, and you should not submit details through a text-message link.

Planning allowance for one family evening

Food The Lakeside Field Food Market runs 19–27 Sep, 6.30pm–11pm. Set a household cap or eat near home first.
Exit line If air, weather, queues or your group's energy change, drop the second activity and go home rather than continuing for stamps.

No. The main event runs 19–27 Sep and the lantern displays are listed through 4 Oct, but each programme has its own dates and hours.

Does Moderate PSI on Monday morning make an evening outing safe?

Is Shuttle Bus B free?

No. LTA says the standard LRT fare applies and lists an interval of about 5–10 minutes; that is not a promised arrival time.
