Singapore F1 and GPSS transport guide 2026: pop-ups, roads, buses and last trains

Today, 9 October, is Friday / Sprint Qualifying day: closures run through 05:30 on 13 October and F1 runs around Marina Centre and the Padang on 9–11 October. Treat crossing the centre, entering the circuit, a pickup and an off-track visit as separate trips. Bus impacts remain active, and arrivals for diverted buses may be unavailable. MSS’s four-day outlook, updated at 5:35pm on 8 October, lists afternoon thundery showers, 25–34°C today; it is not a venue, hourly-weather or access promise. This page neither sells tickets nor promises live access, departures, collection or entry.

  1. Start with LTA’s F1 2026 page and Journey Planner: note the correct station exit or pickup point, then keep a backup that does not rely on the same corridor.
  2. 6 Oct: it is still outside the published F1 road-closure period, but LTA says several bus services are affected from today, selected stops are skipped, and diverted-bus arrival information may be unavailable. For a GPSS or retail pop-up trip, treat the venue as one destination: check its opening details, short-range weather/lightning, nearest MRT exit and operator notices. An event graphic does not establish station service, pickup or a normal bus ETA.
  3. Confirm a usable payment method: eligible contactless local or foreign cards, mobile wallets or SimplyGo EZ-Link. Foreign-issued cards may have administrative fees. Cash buses do not give change.

LTA says the 9 Oct adjustment reflects the new Sprint Race. Track activity, traffic volume, vehicle type and on-site direction can still restrict access—these windows are not a parking, hotel-entry or pickup promise.
9–11 OctUse public transport first. NSL/EWL last trains from City Hall leave at 12:30am on 9 and 10 Oct, and 12:45am on 11 Oct. Other lines, except the airport service, also extend—but that does not guarantee every feeder connection.

Different trips need different plans

  • Ticket holder: start with the gate printed on your ticket, then use the official Event Guide for the workable MRT exit and walking route. ‘Marina Bay’ does not mean every gate or zone connects freely.
  • Crossing the centre without attending: treat 7–13 Oct as a separate transport window and keep an alternative corridor not dependent on Marina Centre/Padang. If buses divert or live arrivals are missing, do not wait for an old screenshot to become true.
  • Driving, taxi or private hire: use only the official route, hotel driveway or designated pickup/drop-off applicable that day. A-Lane access changes by day and time, with exceptions during track activity.
  • With children, elders, stroller, wheelchair or luggage: write down the gate, exit, toilets and meeting point. Fewer transfers and an early exit are usually more resilient than the theoretically fastest route.

Before boarding: payment and battery

Ways to payLTA lists eligible contactless Mastercard, Visa, American Express or NETS bank cards, mobile-phone/watch wallets and SimplyGo EZ-Link. Foreign-issued cards may attract administrative fees.
Cash boundaryPublic buses accept cash but do not give change. It is not a dependable last-minute plan after a major event.
Final two minutesMake sure each traveller has a working payment method, phone charge and saved gate/exit backup; follow current signs and staff on the ground.

Race-night taxi: fix the pickup point before judging the fare

Family exit lineWrite down the latest departure time, meeting point and affordable total ride cost. Leave earlier or switch to public transport if the pickup point, quote or group readiness is unclear; do not keep changing pickup points inside the closure area.

Two older facts that are easy to over-apply

  • The earlier Raffles Avenue diversion at The Float @ Marina Bay stop 02051 remains listed through 12 Oct. It is one stop change—not a substitute for F1-week road, bus or pickup information.
  • Singapore GP says circuit opening times and schedules can change, and weather or safety conditions may affect the event. SGBook’s train and route notes are a planning starting point, never a promise of entry, viewing, connection or journey home.

What is the latest City Hall train on a race day?

LTA lists NSL/EWL departures from City Hall at 12:30am on 9 and 10 Oct, and 12:45am on 11 Oct. This is a departure time, not a promise you can walk out, clear gates and connect in time—allow for the crowd.

What extra taxi charge applies from a designated pickup on a race night?

LTA lists an extra S$8, on top of the metered fare and other applicable surcharges, for taxi trips that start at designated taxi points or taxi driveways from 9:30pm to midnight on 9–11 Oct. Confirm the origin first; it is not a fixed total for every central-area trip.

Can I drive to Marina Centre as usual?

Do not assume so. Closures run from 00:01 on 7 Oct to 05:30 on 13 Oct, with different daily rules for roads, A-Lane access, hotel driveways and pickup points. Open LTA’s F1 page again on departure day.

Can I use a foreign bank card on public transport?

LTA lists eligible contactless foreign cards as an option and notes possible administrative fees. Availability, network coverage and charges remain subject to the issuer and official payment guidance; do not rely on one untested card.
