पहला decision: prepaid या SIM-only?

अगर FIN / stable local address अभी clear नहीं है, prepaid या tourist eSIM से शुरू करें ताकि data + OTPs चलें। Documents settle होने के बाद SIM-only पर shift करें।

क्या-क्या साथ रखें (shop या online दोनों के लिए)

  • Passport + (अगर है) valid pass / FIN details.
  • पुराना number ताकि important OTPs कुछ समय तक मिलते रहें.
  • Unlocked phone + eSIM compatibility (अगर eSIM चाहिए).
  • Online signup के लिए card, या retail purchase के लिए थोड़ा cash.

First-week workflow (simple और safe)

  • Day 0-1: prepaid SIM या tourist eSIM ले लें ताकि data + OTP access हो जाए.
  • Day 1-3: home/work/MRT जैसी real places पर coverage test करें; अगर weak है तो number port मत करें.
  • FIN / pass मिलने के बाद: long-term के लिए SIM-only switch करें.
  • Last step: 2FA/OTP numbers को long-term line पर migrate करें, और पुराना number थोड़े समय backup रखें.

Watch-outs

  • Passport से registered prepaid SIM की validity 30 days तक limited हो सकती है; number retain करने के लिए समय पर Singapore-issued ID से update/re-register करना पड़ सकता है.
  • एक ID पर prepaid SIM registration की limit हो सकती है—बहुत जल्दी multiple SIMs मत निकालें.
  • Large data ≠ indoor coverage; basement/older buildings/MRT interchanges जरूर test करें.
